Finalist Detail 2017

Dr. R Verghese

  • Hyderabad
  • A Brief about yourself and how you describe your own Personality and Persona.
  • I'm very adventurous and fun loving. There are a lot of things I love like writing, singing, listening tonmusic, baking and cooking, travelling, animals, arts and crafts for kids. I am a very empathetic person and have always worked for the underdog. But most of all, four things describe my personality. My God,my kids,my books and my music. People percieve me as bold, frank and caring but they also percieve my empathy.

  • Your Achievements that makes you feel high.
  • My achievements I wouldn't call them all achievements. They are just me. 1) having lived with multiple sclerosis since I was 20 and still managing to do my medicine, have three kids and still continue living normally. 2) adopting my daughter. 3) working with ABC (advocates for babies in crisis) and SCH ( sarahs covenant homes) to help with orphanages. 4) working with HSPCA an animal NGO and fostering animals. 5) writing my book which has been a dream for ages.

  • Define the true beauty.
  • idea of beauty Beauty lies not in what the world sees, Beauty is something that lies within,unseen.. It lies in the mother who gives up her food, To the children who hungrily watch. It lies in the hands of the father who labors, Just so his family can live another day. It lies in the child who gives his bowl of rice, To the dying dog nobody sees. It lies in the grandmother who stays up all night, To soothe the child burning up with a fever. In the maid who works her bones off, After all she has children to feed too. The mother who we only see as a filthy beggar But to her child, she is beauty personified. If only we saw, What the world so easily overlooks. We wouldn't define beauty The way the world does today.

  • What makes a complete, healthy and happy family for you?
  • For me,these are some things I consider important, the rules that shouldn't be broken. It lies in the husband and wife respecting each other and being best friends. For love can have its ups and downs but friendship stays. It lies in every person in the family putting the family above themselves. It lies in accepting children the way they are. Intelligent or challenged, fair or dark, rebellious or docile. Every child has their own strength. And it also lies in teaching children to care for everyone, animal or human.

  • What is your favourite Idea of Holidaying?
  • I think the best part about holidaying is that it changes with ur moods. But my favourite place has always been a beach somehow. Sometimes it's just my husband and me. Kind of like another honeymoon. Where we get to spend time together and share more of ourselves with each other. Sometimes I love having the whole family around. And I love watching the kids have fun. Sometimes I need my space. My time to ponder. Thats when I like travelling alone and making new friends. Like the travel I had planned with Beyond Travel with a group of ladies.

  • Why you are participating in Mrs India Earth?
  • My idea of participating is to create awareness about multiple sclerosis. That people can still live a normal life even if they have an incurable autoimmune disease. And nothing can stop them even if they want to become a beauty queen. I also want to create awareness about adoption, especially for special needs children and older children. It has its own challenges and blessings. Its not just beauty queens and actresses who can adopt, normal people can and should.

  • What bothers you most about what is happening in the country today?
  • What bothers me most about India today is not the demonetisation or GST. Not poverty and hunger. What bothers me most today is intolerance. Intolerance toward anybody who looks different, thinks different and believes different. Our country is secular and always has been. That cannot and should not be taken out of the fabric of our constitution. The politics behind hate crimes cannot be allowed anymore.#notinmyname#

  • The Quote or saying that encourages you?
  • This is a quote I completely believe in and thats how I live everyday. It is my personal quote, written and believed in.

  • What is true “Sportsmanship” for you?
  • I believe true sportsmanship shows itself most when you lose. If you can smile, congratulate the winner and be happy for him thats true sportsmanship.

  • If you were selected as a Charity Ambassador what Value addition would you like to make for our Society and how?
  • I have worked as an Emergency Physician at Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad. I was working for the community at that point. And then it turned to working for my family. Even though I have worked for NGOs before,I believe it is my time for work for society now. At a much larger scale than before. When I believe in a cause,I will do everything in my power to make sure I give my 100% to it. The sad part about our society is that they are willing to listen to actors, actresses and cricket stars. Not everyday people. So a platform like this and winning the contest is very essential to make people listen to what you are saying.
