Finalist Detail 2018

Mrs. V Ladhani

  • Gurugram
  • A Brief about yourself and how you describe your own Personality and Persona.
  • Hi, my name is Vandana Ladhani. I was born and brought up in " The Pink City - Jaipur". I am a MBA by qualification and started my career with Wipro and then moved to working with American Express. My corporate career and my family life merged properly and was able to maintain a proper balance between the two. However after the birth of my second child, I took a sabbatical, thinking of resuming my corporate career after a short break. Fate, however,  had different plans for me and within a month of admitting my daughter to a play school, was given an opportunity to teach in the same school where both of my kids were studying. Though hesitant in the beginning, teaching and interacting with kids opened a different horizon for me. I felt very enriched with this new experience and then pursued the Bachelor of Education. I am a proud mother of two kids, a son and a daughter. My husband is working in Sapient and  we are presently based in Gurgaon.

Ambitious, Focused, Progressive, Compassionate are few of the adjectives that help me describe my personality and persona.

  • Your Achievements that makes you feel high.
  • Being  associated with Rotary International for almost five years, trying to imbibe their motto " Service above self" in my daily life and providing free education to children coming from various strata in our society is one of my biggest achievement.

Being a mother of two kids and having a full time career, maintaining a perfect balance between my family, my kids and my career is an achievement for me.

Having stayed in Gurgaon for more than eleven years, and seeing kids of friends and neighbours in hostels, crèches and day boardings due to the corporate work culture, with the grace of God and with my belief in the notion " charity begins at home", my decision to  switch from a corporate career to a teaching career is an achievement for me. My teaching career gives me enough time to spend time with my children and inculcate in them the Indian values and beliefs that will help them grow up into good human beings.

  • Define the true beauty.
  • Beauty is not just skin deep, it is definitely more than the colour of the skin and the body structure. In my opinion, true beauty is more about a loving heart, a healthy body and beautiful deeds. External beauty will fade however the beauty of our beautiful deeds will stay even after we depart from this world.

  • What makes a complete, healthy and happy family for you?
  • My idea of a complete, healthy and a happy family is one which spends quality time together, share their happiness and sorrows and stand by each other in tough as well as happy times.

  • What is your favorite Idea of Holidaying?
  • I believe in the saying that every day is a holiday if you are doing what you best like doing. Every day is a holiday if one is surrounded by family, friends and well wishers. My perfect idea of holidaying is spending quality time with my kids and family.

  • Why you are participating in Mrs. India Earth ?
  • Deep down, we all wish to do some good deeds or bring some changes in the society or the social system that we are in. Participating in Mrs India Queen of Substance will provide me with a platform to fulfill my desire to work on women empowerment and child development. Sometimes due to the lack of a proper platform or channel, we do not get desired results of the efforts that we put in, I m sure that my association with Mrs India Queen of Substance will help and guide me in chanellising my efforts in the right direction.

  • What bothers you most about what is happening in the country today?
  • Women, however independent and educated, have to face many challenges during the various phases of their lives. Women empowerment is one of the issues that according to me, needs to be handled immediately. It is very important to educate and empower women from all sections of the society so that they can lead their lives with respect and dignity.

Child labour, crimes against children, and the plight of old age residents and parents needs to be handled with utmost priority.

The emergence of social media is also very alarming as the need for real time relations is fading in the light of Facebook, WhatsApp, etc. It is very important for us to make our children and the newer generation understand the importance of long term and real relationships. It is with our our own efforts and time that we can include the values and ethics in the coming generation.

  • The Quote or saying that encourages you?
  • " Be the change that you want to see in the world". This saying by Mahatma Gandhi encourages me the most.

  • What is true “Sportsmanship” for you?
  • True sportsmanship applies to each and everyday of our life. We all face lows and highs in our life. It is during the difficult times of our lives that we  need to give our best and motivate not only ourselves but also everyone around us.

I believe in giving 100% in everything I pursue. It is very important to maintain healthy competition. Winning is definitely important, but even if we loose, the enrichment and the experience will stay with us for our entire lifetime and definitely win us friends for life.

  • If you were selected as a Charity Ambassador what Value addition would you like to make for our Society and how?
  • " let us not love in word or talk, but in deed and truth". If I am selected as the charity ambassador I would like to work on women empowerment and in eliminating child labour and crime against children. I would like to be consistent in my efforts and with a proper vision,  join more people in the league to make the society and the world a better place to live in.
